Does a CBD Muscle Cream Work?

Is it possible to combine CBD oil with an anti-inflammatory supplement? Studies show that CBD can provide temporary relief for inflammation and pain caused by joint problems. There is also evidence that non-cbd products, such as topical ointments, can help with various pain sensations, such as: tennis elbow, frozen shoulder, and sciatica. In a small 2016 study revealed that applying CBD directly to the skin can help decrease inflammation and pain in those with tennis elbow and frozen shoulder. Today, you will never go wrong with a cbd massage done with the oil.

However, when looking at the ingredients label, and especially if the product is not in a capsule form, it is important to look at what the CBD is actually. The pure CBD oil, as opposed to CBD creams or topical products, is very rare. Most of the CBD on the market comes from products produced from other plants. So, how is it that we can benefit from topical products with CBD?

The answer lies in the primary ingredient(s) used in the cream or supplement. In a product page for Cellex-C, one of the primary ingredients listed is “Menthol”. Now, it is important to understand that menthol is not a real thing; it is a derivative of peppermint oil. However, many companies include menthol in their products because of its popularity (it is the “natural alternative to cough syrup”), and its relative safety.

While it is safe to say that Menthol is not a “real” ingredient in the Cellex-C cream, this ingredient does have its benefits. For example, the full-spectrum cream that contains extracts from several plants has been shown to reduce pain by reducing sensory thresholds, improving grip strength, reducing inflammation, increasing range of motion, and improving muscle tone and suppleness. Further, most forms of Menthol contain the compound “citronella”, which is known to be an effective pain relief mechanism (as noted in a review by the American Pain Foundation).

This leads us to our next question: How can we make sure that the CBD cream or supplement is not simply an inexpensive sugar pill and therefore doesn’t contain any of the beneficial properties noted above? We can look to another natural ingredient that has been used for generations in topical ointments – Coenzyme Q10. It was first developed as a vitamin compound by the pharmaceutical giant, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), and then was used in a variety of skin creams to reduce wrinkles and signs of aging. Now, it is marketed as a “nutraceutical” for its ability to boost collagen production, which may explain why Cellex-C has been showing improvement in some areas where it has been used. However, as with all nutraceuticals, there are no clinical trials currently evaluating Coenzyme Q10’s ability to reduce joint or muscle pain, as well as reducing inflammation and possibly improving appetite. The cbd muscle rub will bring some relief.

So, what’s the conclusion? While topical products containing CBD might be helpful for some people, they’re not likely to be effective for everyone. For example, even though Cellex-C contains only a trace amount of the compound, it still can’t promise complete pain relief. If you have ongoing joint or muscle pain, we recommend that you speak to your health care provider before starting a new supplement or topical product. In the mean time, try Cellex-C on a small patch of skin – it worked well for us! And remember, if you experience any type of adverse reaction to this or any other topical treatment for CBD, stop using immediately and contact your doctor.

At, you will learn about CBD and its usage.
